After a fall, an illness or a hospital stay, many older people lose confidence rather than ability. They <em>could</em> still go out, but the fear of falling, of not coping, or of needing help away from home keeps them in.</p><p>Having a trusted carer alongside them is often exactly what restores that confidence. Knowing that someone capable is there, ready to help if needed, is frequently the difference between staying home and going out.
